ABOUT
UMBER+FAWN
umber [uhm-ber]: dark dusky brown or dark reddish brown
fawn [fawn]: a light yellowish-brown color
The naming of Umber+Fawn was simple: the business is named after two distinctly beautiful brown shades, one dark and one light, to express the spectrum of us all, from our hair and skin to our personalities and hearts.
The business started as an independent studio, but after five years in a private space, Wesley decided it was time to go back into a salon to be around like-minded creatives again. Find Umber+Fawn inside Ascend Salon.
WESLEY (he/they)
Wesley Dors has been working in the professional personal care industry for nearly 20 years, though their passion for beauty and grooming goes back to childhood. They expressed interest in hairdressing as young as 10 years old, being exposed to the beauty world through their eldest sister when she began beauty school a couple of years later. From then on, they changed their own hair various times with her assistance, spending their formative years experimenting with their own aesthetic.
At 18 he began to learn about makeup artistry, and a year later started working in retail cosmetics. While makeup continues to be a passion to this day, Wesley wanted to focus on service more than retail sales; he decided to pursue cosmetology school at Paul Mitchell the School San Diego to further his career.
After graduating and assisting an excellent mentor, they moved to Seattle, where they’ve continued building knowledge and skill in both hairdressing and makeup artistry, working for luxury cosmetics brands, a barbershop, and high-end salons. These experiences drove him to forge his own path by creating Umber+Fawn: a hairdressing and makeup artistry business that focuses on inclusivity, mindfulness, and ethical practices, all while providing personalized and detail-oriented service.
SADIE
Sadie is a Great Pyrenees that is very lazy, very sweet, and often accompanies Wesley to work. You’ll likely see her mostly in her bed dozing, or she might come up for a pet. If you’re uncomfortable with dogs around, please feel free to let Wesley know ahead of your service so she can stay at home that day.
